Our history

The Old Wisteria Hotel is a listed property part of which is a cottage, considered to be one of the oldest in the area, built from local quarried stone circa 1604.

Over the years the property has developed from its humble beginnings as a hunting lodge, to a private residence, then in 1979 was transformed into a hotel by the Boulton family, from which the hotel took its former name.

Since 1985, the existing owners have largely extended and improved the hotel, culminating in one of Rutland's leading hotels.

In 2000 the hotel was appropriately renamed 'The Old Wisteria' after the very old well established plant that covers the side of the hotel and blossoms lilac every May.

Ideally located in the unspoiled surroundings of this historic county, the hotel continues to thrive with its ideal location among the breathtaking views of Rutland, meeting the needs of the local community as well as attracting business and leisure visitors.
